This song's probably the happiest collection of sounds ever created. I spent like 10 minutes sliding around my house in my socks listening to this song today...

In my opinion 1999 was the peak of human civilization (The Matrix was permanently set to 1999, if you remember), everyone was like the people in this song, happy without a care in the wold. Bill Clinton was president, the economy was bumpin', and Y2k was the biggest worry on people's minds.

Jaco Pastorious: world's greatest bassist?

If www.jacopastorious.com is to be beleived, then Jaco Pastorious is the "world's greatest bass player." I can't claim to know anything about that. All I can say is that I love when an artist takes a single instrument (i.e. the bass) and experiments to it's musical limits.

At a highschool choir competition a few years ago, I got to see someone do a 10 minute long fretless bass solo. It kind of blew my mind...

Artist Jonas Wood, I really envy his style of painting. It's kind of what I'm trying to achieve with my drawing (not too concerned with realism, proportion, etc.)

Most of his work has to do with sports, especially basketball.

I was particularly moved by his painting of Portland's own gentle giant, Greg Oden

Anyways, really great stuff. Check out his exhibitions at the Anton Kern Gallery and his book of sports paintings "Sport Book".

Teriyaki Boyz - Serious Japanese

New album from the Teriyaki Boyz! In the past they've always kind of just gotten by on Nigo's celebrity connections (Kanye, Pharrell, Daft Punk, etc.) and this album is the same. The way they mix japanese and english can be kind of cheesy sometimes, but I really like it... it's obvious that they aren't taking themselves too seriously...

Blooooooooood... makes me sick to my stomach!

I got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. I've heard all sorts of horror stories about getting them pulled, people who were incapacitated for weeks, getting your teeth pulled and finding a small community of micro-teeth growing underneath, etc... But the whole process was actually pretty quick and painless... Though getting them pulled was horribly uncomfortable (having someone pull out your teeth with a giant pair of pliers just seems unnatural, regardless of the circumstances).

I'm feeling' pretty good now. My mouth stopped bleeding for the most part. Megan visited me last night, which was very comforting... I couldn't really talk because the whole lower half of my face was (hilariously) numb , but it was still quite nice.

I patiently wait my return to solid foods, meanwhile I'll sip contentedly on my bottle of Ensure...

I would drink ensure even if I didn't have to... stuff's good...

I still can't beleive that Beck and Timbaland worked together. Although the same thing happened with Dangermouse... So i guess when Beck matches up with a genious producer, they just sort of cancel each other out and make mediocre songs... "Belly" is music video director Hype Williams' first (and probably last) major motion picture. The plot is pretty generic, and the script sucks, but the cinematography and the visuals are beautiful... The whole thing is basically just one long music video starring Nas and DMX.

Things that are awesome about "Belly": DMX's inexplicably sweaty girlfriend, DMX smoking a joint in practically every scene, DMX admitting his love for "Gummo" and the fact that he has Thierry Le Goues photos hanging in his apartment---Everything DMX says mostly...
